Ocean Via from Palácio Nacional da Pena
While much of the palace was covered with netting and scaffolding for restoration, this view of the Atlantic ocean through the brilliant color of fresh paint captures a stunning view.

April, Out My Window
This is what is out my window this morning. It's April 4th and it's not supposed to look like this! I do enjoy this picture though. I used processing that to make this look a little like what might have come from a pinhole camera.

Sunrise Through Trees
This is an alternate edit of a digital composition that has been in my portfolio for a couple years. The sunrise is more color-realistic and the foreground contains more natural colors including greens. While I personally prefer the other edit with it's more abstract colors, this may appeal to those who prefer less abstraction.

Spring From Winter and Fall
I completed this digital composition about two years ago and have just updated it. When I viewed the original, it seemed to be out of balance. Now I have moved the flower and shifted the center of the image in order to improve the composition and balance.
This was created from several pictures which have been layered in Photoshop. It was the first time I used Photoshop extensively for layering and composition and I remember spending many, many hours on it. Now, I could manage this in a relatively short time for the manipulation, but it would still taken a couple weeks to complete it as I recompose it and walk away several times for a day or two in order to gain fresh looks. I guess I could say for this edit I stepped back for two years.flowericewateryellowcompositionriver bend

Morning Decisions
This picture is important to me since it depicts a choice I make every day. On the left is the light of a new day - a day with choices, a day with nature, a day for creativity. On the right are the choices of a commercial world.
I have learned that my favorites are rarely the same ones that anyone else likes or buys. Should my next art speak to me and possibly few others or do I try to make art that most people will like? That question is a cliché, but I still think about it.
As a new day starts, we each thread our way between personal fulfillment and commercialism. Which way will you turn today?beachsunrisewalkwalkingwalkercondobuildingscontemplation
